This three (3) year program in Computer Science leads to a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC). It offers two specializations: Network Management and Internet Programming & Application Development.

Network Management

The Network Management specialization will not only provide students with a good base in programming, but this option will also prepare students to assume the role of Network Administrator.

As a graduate in the Network Management specialization, you will be able to master the following:

  • Design, plan and manage Networks. Network installations
  • Network Topology, Network Architecture
  • Connectivity devices (Cables, Hubs, Bridges, Routers)
  • Troubleshooting, Configurations of TCP/IP
  • Internet Configurations. Transmission Media
  • Network Security Utilities (Firewalls, Encryption)
  • Access Management. Permissions and Rights
  • IP Subnetting, CIDR
  • Backup Strategies. RAID levels
  • Intranet, Extranet

Internet Programming & Application Development

The Internet Programming & Application Development specialization will not only provide students with a good basic knowledge and ability in practical programming tools and the development of computer applications, but will also prepare students for the world of e-commerce.

Students will learn Web page design using HTML. They will develop code in Java or Perl using the CGI standard. As well, JavaScript, ASP, JSP and Servlets will also be included in this segment of the program.

As a graduate of the Internet Programming & Application Development specialization, you will be able to master the following:
  • Internet Applications and Internet Programming
  • Web Design Applications
  • Internet Architecture and Security
  • Software Development
  • Network Architecture (Installation and TCP/IP Configuration)
  • Database Application on the Web (E-commerce)
  • Oracle Database Application (PL/SQL)
  • Programming and Debugging
