Prepare for a fascinating career in film and television production

The fascinating world of film and television production is actively looking for competent technical personnel. The most sought after jobs are in the following departments:

  • Image: cameraman, assistant cameraman, focus-puller, director of photography, etc...
  • Sound: sound man, boom operator, etc…
  • Light: gaffer, best boy electrician, etc…
  • Editing: sound editor, video editor, film editor, etc…
  • Set designer: art director, set decorator, set property master, etc…
Program objectives

To teach the trades of a production set, making sure that the student comprehends fully the use of all equipment used both on an exterior or interior set. The spirit of teamwork will also be clearly emphasized.

The students will become familiar with each and every job on a set for feature films, television productions, video-clips and corporate videos. The student will understand every step of the production process from the idea to the final product.

A thorough understanding of every step will be stressed.

Internship on sets or in production companies

At the end of the program, students may be offered to complete a 6 (six) week internship within the industry. Opportunities will be offered to work on sets virtule in production companies, in equipment rental companies and wherever productions are produced. Students will acquire valuable hands-on experience which is aimed at helping the student obtain employment.

Careers in the film and television industries

Major production, distribution, broadcasting and service companies are established here, such as: Alliance-Atlantis, Equinoxe Films, Astral Media, CTV, Québecor Média, Global Communications, Mel's Studio, Locations Michel Trudel, Kodak Canada, Vision Globale, Technicolor, Bell GlobeMédia. These are the "majors". Montreal also has a huge number of very strong small and mid-size production companies.
