Programs of Study

Prospective students and their parents are cordially invited to visit the College and meet with admission counsellors. All candidates must meet with an admission counsellor.


The DEC (Diploma of Collegial Studies) program requirements:

  • Have a Secondary School Diploma (SSD)
    A candidate who obtained an SSD without one of the following courses, must communicate with their School Board in order to follow remedial courses for the missing courses:
    • Secondary IV credits of History and Citizenship Education
    • Secondary IV credits in Science and Technology or Technological and Scientific Applications
    • Secondary V credits in English Language of Instruction
    • Secondary V credits in French Second Language
    • Secondary IV credits in Mathematics: Cultural, Social, and Technical Options

OR

  • Have a Secondary Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) including the following courses:
    • Secondary V credits in English language arts
    • Secondary V credits in French second language
    • Secondary IV credits in mathematics: Cultural, Social, and Technical Options

OR

  • Have an equivalent qualification

OR

  • Have equivalent experience and qualifications and have interrupted his or her fulltime studies for a period of at least 36 consecutive months

PLUS

  • Meet the specific prerequisites of the 310.C0 and 411.A0 programs of study
    • Secondary IV Mathematics: Cultural, Social and Technical Option

A candidate who did not obtain the SSD or DVS can be accepted conditionally if no more than 6 credits are missing to obtain the SSD or DVS, excluding the Secondary IV credits in Mathematics since that course is a specific prerequisite for admission. The candidate must agree to complete the missing credits before the start of the next semester.

The AEC (Attestation of Collegial Studies) program requirements:

Qualifies for a program of study leading to an Attestation of Collegial Studies, a person who has Secondary School Diploma (SSD) or Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) or has received instruction deemed sufficient by the college and who meets one of the following conditions:

  • has interrupted her studies for at least 2 consecutive sessions or 1 school year
  • is covered by an agreement between the college and an employer or receives a government program
  • continued for a period of at least 1 year of postsecondary education

To apply, candidates must forward the following items to the admissions office:

  • Admission form
  • High school transcript issued by the “Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport”
  • Last post high school transcript if applicable
  • Or equivalent issued by the ministère de l'Immigration et des communautĂ©s culturelles
  • Certified birth certificate
  • Application fee

O’Sullivan College operates on a first-come, first served basis. Applications are processed throughout the year. Applicants who are in the final year of high school receive a conditional acceptance pending receipt of their high school diploma.

An applicant will usually be notified of the Admissions Committee’s decision within three (3) weeks of his/her application during the registration period.
