Each year, the class presidents are elected by the members of the student body. They help to arrange social events, act as representatives of their class, are consulted in certain matters pertaining to student affairs and contribute in promoting a strong collegial spirit. The class presidents also play an important role in welcoming new and returning students.
Numerous social activities are organized for students throughout the year, in which voluntary involvement is strongly encouraged. These activities give students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, social consciousness, and teamwork. They also serve to round out their otherwise academic school experience. O’Sullivan students have at their disposal seven (7) computer labs equipped with the most recent IBM technology including one lab equipped with MacIntosh. These computer labs are also available to students who wish to use them outside of class hours.
Library materials are carefully selected to provide support for the College curriculum as well as to enrich reading opportunities. The library collection also includes a wide variety of audio tapes and video programs for the use of faculty and students. Students receive instruction in library research techniques. Furthermore, the library computer centre is an ideal place to do research. The library is open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (except on Friday, the library closes at 5 p.m.)
The Learning Center is available to students experiencing difficulties in English, French or any other subject. The center offers a personalized service by providing individual meetings with a tutor or peer tutoring.
This one-on-one assistance offered by a specialized counselor helps students deal with personal difficulties. Furthermore, it also gives them the support to help them establish a success plan, reach their academic objectives, and develop their skills.
The coaching service helps students mostly address issues of time management, stress management, anger management, note-taking, self-esteem/confidence, and self-motivation.
O'Sullivan College benefits from an ongoing association with the CSSS de la Montagne/CLSC Métro, as well as with the Clinique Métro Médic Centre Ville, both located minutes away from the college. The Coordinator of Student Services assists students in need of basic first aid, and is otherwise able to refer them to the appropriate healthcare professional when nessessary.
